As the Pastor of this great ministry, I am both humbled and honored to shepherd this local assembly of God’s people and guide them on their journeys towards fulfilling the plan of God for their lives. It is with a sober mind and heart that I bear the responsibility of being a spiritual father to the people of God who call Light of the World their church home. And as I have grown and continue to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the pastoral calling upon my life, the more my commitment has grown to becoming more like Jesus – “who made himself of no reputation, but became a servant.” How may I serve you? Biography for Rev. Leo L. Sherard Reverend Leo Sherard is the founding pastor and visionary leader of Light of the World Family Worship Church located in Hamilton, New Jersey – a church that God has called to grow the family of God through the power of scripture and the demonstration of love and kindness. In March 2004 Pastor Sherard along with 24 congregants started this local church with a focus on reaching the lost, building believers and changing lives. Since the beginning, he has endeavored to impact the local community through five core values that embody the mission of the church which are worship, fellowship, discipleship, ministry and evangelism. His commitment to fulfilling this mission is demonstrated by his leadership style that challenges members to love God better each day, to show love to their neighbors, to make choices that grow their character, to serve God by serving others and to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through his leadership, he has created various opportunities for his church to live out these principles by serving individuals and families in the surrounding areas. Pastor Sherard leads a monthly Bible Study for the seniors who reside at the Luther Arms Senior Facility in Trenton. He has created long term partnerships with community organizations that include Homefront, Hamilton High School West, the Rainbow House in Trenton; and several Nursing Homes within Mercer County. His church is committed to supporting the work of missions and provides dedicated financial support to two full time missionaries and various humanitarian relief efforts both locally and abroad. In fact, he recently participated in a mission's trip to Cuba where he had the rare opportunity to travel the island and distribute much need supplies to residents and share the Gospel. Pastor Sherard began his ministerial career as the Associate Pastor at Abundant Life Family Worship Church in New Brunswick, New Jersey after earning a Master's Degree in Theological Studies from the New Brunswick Theological Seminary in 1996. For eight years, he served faithfully under the leadership of Bishop George C. Searight and was ordained in 1998 by Bishop Donald Hilliard Jr. as an Elder in God's church. One of the key focuses of Pastor Sherard's ministry is on marriage and families. He is committed to identifying opportunities and ministries that support the first institution God established which is the marriage relationship and it being the cornerstone for which the family is built. He is most proud of his 18 year marriage to his lovely wife Glynis and their three children Sydney, Zachary, and Jacoby. Together, they labor in ministry and have devoted their lives to serving God through serving others.
