My Spiritual Father
Bishop George C. Searight
Pastor Leo Sherard is the spiritual son of Bishop George C. Searight
who has served and continues to serve as his father in the gospel
for the past 14 years. Bishop Searight and his wife Lady Mary Searight
are the founding pastors of Abundant Life Family Worship Church
in New Brunswick, New Jersey where both Pastor Sherard and his wife
Glynis were founding members and served faithfully under their leadership.
Today, Pastor Sherard acknowledges with love and gratitude Bishop
Searight for his extraordinary leadership and the life-changing
impact he has had on his life and ministry. It was through Bishop
Searight’s leadership and tutelage that enabled Pastor Sherard
to embrace and pursue the call of God on his life, which was and
is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and pastor a local church.

Bishop Donald Hilliard, Jr.
As a seminary graduate student, Pastor Sherard did his
internship under the leadership of Bishop Hilliard, Jr. at The Cathedral
(Second Baptist Church) in Perth Amboy, New Jersey; and in later
years, would be ordained by Bishop Hilliard as an Elder in the Lord’s
church. Pastor Sherard was honored to have worked with the impressive
Bishop Hilliard and his extremely talented pastoral team of Rev.
Bernadette Glover-Williams, Rev. Denise Reid, and former Youth Pastor
Rev. Patricio Wilson. Still today, Bishop Hilliard serves as a constant
influence in the spiritual life and maturity of Pastor Sherard.
Rev. Anthony Wilcots
As the Associate Pastor at the Abundant Life Family Worship Church,
Pastor Sherard established a mentor relationship with Rev. Wilcots
of Liberty Baptist Church in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The two would
meet on a monthly basis to discuss various reading materials and
theologies. Pastor Sherard valued their time together and was challenged
to rethink some of his traditional Christian beliefs as a result
of Rev. Wilcots’ insight. Rev. Wilcots has been an example
of godly leadership and servant hood for which Pastor Sherard will
always be grateful. “I am grateful for his mentorship, but
more grateful for his friendship.”
Rev. Esteban Anderson
Growing up in a Spanish Pentecostal church in Lakewood, New Jersey,
Pastor Sherard’s earliest memories of church was through the
preaching and teaching ministry of Rev. Esteban Anderson, a Cuban
native. Rev. Anderson provided Pastor Sherard with solid biblical
teaching throughout his early childhood and young adult years that
would lay the foundation upon which his future endeavors in ministry
would be built. Rev. Anderson’s encouraging words to always
“keep the fire burning,” still resonate in Pastor Sherard’s
heart and ministry today.
It is people of God such as these mentioned above as well as many
others who have shaped and influenced the path of Pastor Sherard’s
spiritual journey thus far; and to whom he is extremely grateful.
